  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (non-alcoholic)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 8 slices crispy turkey bacon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. Shape mixture into approximately 16-20 meatballs.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; brown meatballs on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Pour BBQ sauce over meatballs and let simmer on low for about 10 minutes.
  6. Slice sub rolls lengthwise and toast them in the oven for about 5 minutes.
  7. Assemble by placing meatballs in rolls, topping with cheese and turkey bacon.
  8. Return to the oven for another 2-3 minutes until cheese melts.
  9. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
