  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef with minced garlic and chopped onion for about 10 minutes until the beef is cooked through and onions are softened.
  2. Add the chopped stewed tomatoes and beef broth to the pan. Stir in chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let simmer for an hour while stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in pinto beans and salt; cook for an additional 15 minutes before serving.
