  • 6 oz almond paste
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg (beaten, divided)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the thawed puff pastry sheet on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix almond paste, softened butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg until smooth.
  4. Spread the almond filling down the center of the pastry and cut diagonal strips along both sides.
  5. Fold the strips over the filling to create a braided effect.
  6. Brush the top with remaining beaten egg and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
