  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 2 tsp strawberry extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time then gradually stir in the milk.
  5. Combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Divide batter into three bowls: leave one plain for vanilla, mix cocoa powder into another for chocolate, and add strawberry extract to the last.
  7. Pour each mixture into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow cakes to cool completely before stacking with frosting between layers.
