  • 1 small head of cabbage (cut into thick slices)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
  • 1 egg (optional, for binding)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice cabbage into thick rounds (about ½-inch thick) and brush both sides with olive oil. Place on a lined baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and the egg if using.
  4. Take a handful of the meat mixture and shape it into patties on top of each cabbage slice.
  5. Bake in the oven for about 25 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Remove from oven, sprinkle cheese on top of each burger, and broil for an additional 3-5 minutes until bubbly.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired; serve warm.
