  • 12 oz canned chickpeas (drained)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grapeseed oil (or other neutral oil, for frying)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Drain and dry the chickpeas; mash them in a large bowl until coarse.
  2. Mix in cumin, pepper, salt, green onions, garlic, flour, and egg until well combined.
  3. Heat grapeseed oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Shape about three tablespoons of mixture into patties and fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides (3–4 minutes each).
  5. Combine yogurt sauce ingredients in a bowl while patties cool slightly.
  6. Serve warm with yogurt sauce on the side.
